I’m a researcher and I’ve heard some talks from people connected with VitaDAO. When I connected with them off the stage and discussed IP ownership, they clearly stated that VitaDAO’s position is to own 100% of the IP. Other discussions with different people made it clear to me that they preferred to not engage with institutions directly because of “red tape” which I can surmise is partly related to IP issues, because institutions also want to own the IP and the DAO may not want to get involved in such conflicts right now.
Is there any appetite for a bridge organisation connecting researchers, DAO funding and institutions? What are the caveats?
The advantages are clear. Institutions typically have a lot of the SOTA devices and expertise under one roof. So getting access to these devices and facilities would be a huge boon to any researcher.
Until a few months ago I was based in London. Nowadays, I’m in Singapore. I would love to connect with DeSci people to discuss this idea.
